Metallosis and Corrosion Associated With Revision Total Knee Arthroplasties With Metaphyseal Sleeves

چکیده

Metallosis and corrosion have been associated with metal-on-metal modular total hip arthroplasty but are rarely described in the setting of primary or revision knee (TKA). In this series, we report on cases metallosis due to mechanically assisted crevice at junctions machined trunnion-bore tapers a TKA system metaphyseal sleeves. The unique design metal used sleeve-based TKA, along potential patient surgical factors, may predispose these designs fretting, corrosion, adverse reaction debris. We now consider workup painful failed TKAs Future studies that investigate incidence phenomenon be warranted.

Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty with Metaphyseal Sleeves without Stem: Short-Term Results

Purpose  The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with cementless metaphyseal sleeves without stems either in the femoral or tibial side or in both. Methods  In this retrospective study, 51 patients (51 knees) operated in the period 2010 to 2015 met the above-mentioned criteria and were invited to a medical examination including X-rays. Forty-...

Revision total knee arthroplasty using metaphyseal sleeves at short-term follow-up.

The treatment of bone loss in revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has involved using revision implants in association with cement, augments, particulate, and structural allograft. Newer metaphyseal augments were introduced to allow for metaphyseal fixation of the prosthesis while managing significant bone loss. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the outcome of revision TKA usin...

Failure of aseptic revision total knee arthroplasties

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In Norway, the proportion of revision knee arthroplasties increased from 6.9% in 1994 to 8.5% in 2011. However, there is limited information on the epidemiology and causes of subsequent failure of revision knee arthroplasty. We therefore studied survival rate and determined the modes of failure of aseptic revision total knee arthroplasties. METHOD This study was based o...

Antibiotic cement was associated with half the risk of re-revision in 1,154 aseptic revision total knee arthroplasties

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Aseptic revisions comprise 80% of revision total knee arthroplasties (TKAs). We determined the incidence of re-revision TKA, the reasons for re-revision, and risk factors associated with these procedures. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 1,154 patients who underwent aseptic revision TKA between 2002 and 2013 and were followed prospective...

Tibial revision knee arthroplasty with metaphyseal sleeves: The effect of stems on implant fixation and bone flexibility

INTRODUCTION Revision total knee arthoplasty often requires modular implants to treat bone defects of varying severity. In some cases, it may not be clear which module size and implant combination (e.g. sleeve and stem) should be chosen for a specific defect. When balancing implant stability and osseointegration against stress-shielding, it is important to choose an appropriate implant combinat...
